This Snack Mix recipe is addicting and one that you can make quickly! Mix it together in under 5 mins!! I guarantee you will not put the bowl down once you start eating this mix. It is salty, crunchy, bold, and flavorful with many variations.
There are so many ways that you can make this Snack Mix your own favorite, by adding your favorite gluten-free items to it.
If looking for sweet and salty add some chocolate M&M’s or Reese’s pieces, or if you’re looking for a salty mix omit the chocolate.
One of my favorite combinations is Honey Nut Cheerios which add a sweet little touch, a combination of rice chex and corn chex, peanuts for a little bit of extra crunch, pretzel rounds or rods, crackers that are broken up or gluten-free cheese crackers similar to a cheez-it. This is the best Snack Mix, savory, sweet, salty, and crunchy.
In my other recipes like the All Year Round Italian Pasta Salad, you may have seen that I use a roaster pan or two. Again, this is a recipe that I use a roaster pan for that I can easily throw away or store the Snack Mix in a Jumbo Ziplock bag. Little to clean up!
Ingredients:
- Chex (Rice, Corn or Combination)
- Pretzels (Rounds or Rods)
- Peanuts
- Cheese Crackers (Omit if Dairy Free) – Simply Nature Cheddar Flavor Crackers are a great Gluten Free option at Aldi
- Butter (Dairy Free Option – Country Crock Avocado Plant Butter)
- Worcestershire sauce
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
Additional Options:
Change it up every once in a while for a different bold flavor depending on the time of year or occasion.
- Cayenne Pepper (Adds a spicy flavor Optional)
- Suckle Busters Clucker Dust (Optional)
- BBQ Seasoning of your Choice
- M&M’s (spread out after the mix comes out of the oven)
- Reese’s Pieces (spread out after the mix comes out of the oven)
- Gluten Free Crackers
- Variation of Chex (Cinnamon or Chocolate)
- Mixed Nuts
Step by Step Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350° and make sure the oven rack is in the middle before it heats up. This makes it easier than trying to move it once the oven is preheated.
- In a large roaster pan or pan of your choice (sheet pan with sides, roaster, two cake pans) mix the snack ingredients. Adding the corn chex, rice chex, pretzels, honey nut cheerios, peanuts, and cheese crackers. Mix together until combined.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl melt the butter. Then stir in Worcestershire, onion powder, garlic powder, and any other optional seasonings of your choice. Mix well before adding over top of the snack mix. Adding half of the sauce mixture to the snack mix first stir well. Then add the other half and gently stir until the mix is evenly coated. Be careful while stirring so that the rice chex, corn chex, and crackers do not become crumbs.
- Place the pan or pans into the oven on the middle rack and bake for 20 mins. Stir the mix gently at the 10 min mark. Remove after 20 mins and let cool in the pan or spread the mixture out on parchment paper or a baking sheet. By spreading out the mixture it will cool quickly and will not clump together.
- If adding M&M’s or Resse’s Pieces I suggest spreading out the mixture and then adding them. Add it right after you spread out the mixture while it is a little warm so it may stick better to the mix. Do not place the chocolate in the oven as it will melt.
