Its one thing to be gluten free as a fad or an intolerance, but is another thing to be gluten free because you have a gluten ALLERGRY! The best advice I received from someone is to tell your servers you have a Gluten Allergy, and not celiac and not gluten free.
#1 – Red Cow (North loop, St. Paul, Rochester, Uptown, 50th & France, MSP Airport)
This is my families go to restaurant in Minneapolis. Amazing food with tons of options that are gluten free. Not only are they gluten free, but they are delicious! You feel safe eating here as the servers are very knowledgeable, and they have a dedicated frier and kitchen space. My go-to’s are always the gluten free boneless wings, homemade chips, and onion dip (Food Network Top 50 Dips), their famous double barrel burger, and to top it off a shake (always ask them to clean the machine and they will happily do so). They even have great vegan options like the buffalo cauliflower.. so GOOD!
#2 – Biaggi’s (Maple Grove, MN)
My love for pasta remains the same but has been adjusted by gluten free pasta. Biaggi’s is a great restaurant that offers tasty gluten free bread and gluten free pasta choices. The servers have always been knowledgeable and helped to find items on the menu that are 100% gluten free. Are you missing Chicken Parmesan? They have a gluten free one that is great, made with potato breading.
#3 – Orchid (White Bear Lake, MN)
One of my top choices for Asian food is PF Changs. They offer great gluten free choices that are labeled on there menu. The Mongolian Beef and Beef with Broccoli are delish options. One of my favorite dishes is the chicken lettuce wraps on the appetizer menu. I could eat it for a meal! The servers are familiar with the menu and gluten free. They also are great with other allergies like dairy.
#4 – Big Bowl (Roseville, Edina, Minnetonka, MN)
The gluten free menu has many choices that will hit the spot if you’re craving Asian food. Their lettuce wraps are one of my absolute favorites and great for a quick lunch! The restaurant is extremely careful with allergies. Often we pick their food up to go and all the boxes are labeled with stickers marking them “Allergey”. It’s a great feeling when you know they care, listen, and take precautions, so you can feel comfortable eating their food.
#5 – Randy’s Pizza (Oakdale, MN)
Randy’s Pizza is a dedicated gluten free pizza establishment! WHAT! This is one of the only dedicated gluten-free pizza places in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After craving a hot pizza in a box for the longest time we finally ordered Randy’s. Yes, pizza in a box does indeed taste different!! The pizza crust was amazing and the sauce and toppings hit the spot. I recommend their cheese fries, ocaccia bread, and dessert cinnamon sticks. We also picked up frozen pizza’s and they were also delicious. If you’re looking to order frozen pizza’s make sure you order them days ahead of time. They even have a deal if you order them in a pack versus individually. Not only does Randy’s have pizza, but during lent they have an amazing gluten free fish fry on Friday’s!
#6 – Original Pancake House (Many Locations in MN and across the U.S)
Yum, the love for breakfast food is real! They have the best coffee cups to drink out of and many gluten free options. There is a separate space they make the food in and the servers have been helpful in sharing what could and couldn’t be made on the dedicated kitchen equipment. The food is marked with a gluten free labeled stick when brought out. My favorite is the banana crepes with a fresh cup of coffee! I don’t know what it is, but they have the best coffee.. maybe it’s the mug!
